If your mail server goes down, is inaccessible from the internet due to connection issues, or cannot be contacted for any other reason, our Backup MX service will queue your email messages automatically until your mail server comes back online.
Our Backup MX service acts as your second and third priority mail servers. If your mail server cannot be contacted by a sending mail server the mail will be routed to our mail servers and wait in our queue for your server to be available. Our servers will keep checking your mail server every 60 minutes. Once your mail server is available again our servers will forward the emails to your mail server. Our servers will keep attempting to deliver mail to your server for 10 days. Mails queued in our mail servers exceeding 10 days will be returned to the sender.
Our backup MX service can cover up to 5, 10 or even 20 domain names with the same destination server, depending on which package you choose.
To setup the service all you need to do is order the service, tell us which domain(s) you wish to the service on and the destination mail server (all configurable via the members area) and add our MX records to your DNS zone.
